Randy Hall

(March 17, 2020) Chicago-reared vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Randy Hall made some noise in the mid-‘80s with a pair of LP’s for MCA Records, scoring R&B chart hits such as “I’ve Been Watching You (Jamie’s Girl)” in 1984 and “Slow Starter” in 1988. Prior to that, he served as lead vocalist for Portland funk ensemble Pleasure’s Give It Up LP and even co-penned two cuts on Miles Davis’ 1981 album, The Man with the Horn.

UK boutique label Six Nine Records has recently brought Hall back to the recording spotlight with several singles demonstrating his characteristically smooth and confident vocal form. The latest release, “A New Way of Love,” is a midtempo serving of funky R&B bridging a’ 70s-tinged steppers’ groove with retro-minded melodies and romantic lyrics. Endearing female backing vocals complement Hall’s finesse here, making for a satisfying jam ideal for coolin’ out to or dancing to late at night with that special someone.

“A New Way of Love” is available both digitally and on limited 7” vinyl, backed with “A Beautiful Dream.” It can be purchased directly at the Six Nine Records website. Take a First Listen to the track below and let us know the way it makes you feel!
